Project Athena is AZTYPO’s initiative to offer our support to school districts across the Valley as they begin to develop formalized school policies supporting transgender students.
Support for local schools can include training for school administrators, staff, teachers, social workers, student councilors, or anyone who would like more information on how best to create an inclusive environment.
Training can include basic information on what it means to be transgender, recommendations on current best practices for educators, model student policies, and guidance on training materials designed specifically to help prepare K-12 schools.
We are advocating for a common sense approach that ensures the civil rights of transgender students are protected, while addressing the concerns of privacy and safety that all students deserve.
This is a new frontier for many schools. However, our experience has shown that, particularly for those in education, people want to help and be supportive and compassionate…but they aren’t sure how.
AZTYPO aims to provide the “how.”
